Connect your WhatsApp number
Connecting your WhatsApp number is the first and most important step in setting up Tanvik. Without it, no messages can be sent or received. This guide walks you through the full process using WhatsApp Business API via RML.
Before you begin

You need a WhatsApp Business API-eligible number. This must be a real SIM card number that has never been used on WhatsApp Business App or WhatsApp Messenger. If the number is already on the WA app, remove it first and wait 24 hours.
- A mobile number (Indian preferred, international supported)
- Access to the number to receive an OTP
- Your business display name — this appears on all outbound messages
- A profile photo (optional but recommended)
Step-by-step

Go to Channels in your sidebar
Click Channels in the left navigation of your Tanvik dashboard. You'll see a list of connected numbers (empty if this is your first time).

No numbers connected yet. Click "Add number" to get started.

Click "Add number" and enter your details
Enter the phone number (with country code, e.g. +91 98765 43210), your business display name, and upload a profile photo.

Display name matters. Meta reviews your display name. Use your actual business name — not a generic word like "Sales" or "Support". Vague names get rejected.

Verify via OTP
Tanvik sends a verification OTP to your number via SMS or voice call. Enter it in the verification screen. You have 10 minutes before it expires.

Wait for approval (usually instant)
Most numbers are approved within seconds. In some cases Meta takes up to 24 hours to review new business profiles. Your channel will show Pending until approved, then switch to Active.
Verify the connection works
Once your channel shows Active, go to your Inbox and send a test message to your own number. If it delivers, you're ready to use Tanvik.

Tip: Add your own number as a contact and opt it in first. That way you can test broadcasts and templates safely before going live with customers.
Common questions
Can I use a number that's already on WhatsApp Business App?
Not directly. You need to delete the WhatsApp Business App from that number, wait 24 hours, then connect it to Tanvik. The migration removes the account from Meta's personal app servers first.
Can I connect multiple numbers?
Yes — on Pro and Enterprise plans. Each number counts as one channel slot. Go to Channels and click "Add number" again for each additional number.
My OTP didn't arrive
Wait 2 minutes and retry. If it still doesn't arrive, check that the number can receive SMS. Landlines and VoIP numbers cannot receive OTPs — use a real SIM.
