🔔 Opt-in
Collect opt-ins from your customers
An opt-in is a customer's consent to receive WhatsApp messages from you. Without it, WhatsApp may block your broadcasts. Tanvik gives you two ways to collect opt-ins: an embeddable website widget, and a shareable link.
What opt-in means
When a contact opts in, Tanvik registers them with WhatsApp's official API as a consented recipient. This means:
- You can send them template messages anytime (outside the 24-hour window)
- They won't be filtered as spam by WhatsApp
- Your number's quality rating stays healthy
⚠
Broadcasting to contacts who haven't opted in risks your number. WhatsApp monitors delivery and complaint rates. High complaint rates can restrict or ban your business number.
Embed the opt-in widget
01
Go to Opt-in in the sidebar
Click Opt-in in your navigation. You'll see your widget code and a live preview.
02
Customise the widget
Set the headline text, button label, and success message. You can also set a tag that's automatically applied to contacts who opt in — useful for automation triggers.
03
Copy the embed code
Copy the <script> snippet and paste it before the </body> tag of your website. The widget appears as a floating WhatsApp button or inline form depending on your settings.
Share the opt-in link
If you don't have a website, or want to collect opt-ins via WhatsApp, Instagram, or email, use the opt-in link. It opens a simple form in the browser where the customer enters their phone number and clicks opt in.
Share it anywhere: Instagram bio, email signature, QR code at your store, WhatsApp status.
✓
Tip: Create a QR code from your opt-in link and display it at your shop counter, in packaging inserts, or on your visiting card. Customers scan and opt in — no typing needed.
Contact sync after opt-in
Every opt-in automatically: (1) creates or updates the contact in your Tanvik contacts list, (2) registers the opt-in with the WhatsApp API, and (3) triggers any automations you've set up with the "Opt-in received" trigger. No manual action needed.
