👥 Contacts
Import & manage contacts
Contacts are the people you message on WhatsApp. You can import them from a CSV, add them manually, or let Tanvik create them automatically when someone messages you.
Importing contacts from CSV
01
Go to Contacts → Import
Click Contacts in the sidebar, then click the Import button in the top right.
02
Download the CSV template
Download Tanvik's CSV template and fill it in. The required columns are listed below. Save as .csv (not .xlsx).
03
Upload and map columns
Upload your file. Tanvik auto-maps columns by header name. Review the mapping, then click Import. Duplicates (same phone number) are updated, not duplicated.
CSV format
| Column | Required | Format | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
phone | Yes | With country code, + prefix | +919876543210 |
name | Yes | Any text | Rahul Sharma |
tags | No | Comma-separated | lead,real-estate |
group_name | No | Text | June Campaign |
⚠
Phone format matters. Numbers without the
+ prefix or country code will fail to import. Indian numbers must start with +91.Tags & groups
Tags are free-form labels on individual contacts — useful for filtering broadcasts. E.g. hot-lead, real-estate, june-demo.
Groups are named collections — useful for importing and targeting a specific batch. A contact can only be in one group but can have multiple tags.
DND / opt-out
If a contact replies with a keyword like "STOP" or you manually mark them as DND, Tanvik automatically excludes them from all broadcasts. You can view and manage DND contacts under Contacts → DND List.
!
Never remove someone from DND manually unless they've re-opted in. Messaging opted-out contacts violates WhatsApp policy and risks your number getting flagged.
